Workshop 01 / 02

Shaping effective all-day schools

How can legal requirements and high-quality all-day programs go together?

Wed, November 11, 20265:00–6:30 PM CETOnline · 90 minFree of charge

All-day schools are increasingly becoming central places for education and daily life for children and young people, not only in Lower Saxony. For them to work reliably and deliver educational value, classroom teaching, extended-day activities, care, and collaboration must be considered as one system.

This professional development session provides a clear, practical overview of the legal framework for all-day schools in Lower Saxony. It focuses on the responsibilities of school leaders, different staffing and partnership models, and the related areas of responsibility and authority. Concrete examples illustrate the options currently available to schools and the legal boundaries they need to consider.

The session also examines the educational quality of extended-day programs: How can activities be planned, managed, and delivered in ways that reflect the interests and needs of children and young people, enable participation, and support positive learning and development? What structures does multidisciplinary collaboration require, and how can quality development become part of everyday school practice?

Participants receive guidance, decision-making support, and practical ideas for organizing their school's extended-day program on a sound legal basis and developing its quality.

Target audience

This professional development session is intended especially for school leaders, all-day program coordinators, teachers, and educational staff who organize, shape, or develop their school's extended-day program. Staff from extended-day program providers and partner organizations are also very welcome.
